✨ Fireworks at dusk
The Town of Legal’s annual Fête au Village fireworks display has long been more than just a spectacular show — it is a celebration of family, tradition, and community spirit.
For over six decades, countless volunteers have come together to create the dazzling display that has become a highlight of our festival. What began in 1964 has grown into a cherished tradition, with one family at its heart for generations.
The very first Fête au Village fireworks show was led by Marcel Coulombe in 1964, alongside Gerry St. Jean and a dedicated team of volunteers. In the mid-1980s, Gerry’s son, Roly St. Jean, took over the responsibility of organizing and launching the annual display, carrying on the tradition with pride.
Then, in 2014, after years of learning and helping behind the scenes, Roly’s daughter, Jenessa St. Jean, stepped into the lead role. For the past 12 years, she has proudly carried on the family legacy, supported by a passionate team of dedicated volunteers. Along the way, her sister Katie contributed several years of support, and her brother Travis has become an important part of the fireworks team in recent years.
Today, the tradition continues to grow. Jenessa has already begun planting the seeds for the future, with her two young sons eagerly helping with cleanup after each show — waiting for the day they can become the fourth generation of St. Jeans to light up the skies over Legal.
The Fête au Village fireworks are more than an event; they are a symbol of community, commitment, and the passing of tradition from one generation to the next — a bright reminder of what makes Legal so special.
